VIRTUAL PAINTINGS,
CULTURAL RESISTANCE

This work is a conceptual painting project. A lens shaped to focus on the world of artists, curators, critics, professors, it is an instrument made to deconstruct cultural practice. The essays themselves are disturbing works in cultural resistance; they challenge root belief systems in the environment from which they emerged.

Most fine arts producers graduate from similar schools and share similar values, which are reflected in their association, their production, and the systems created thereby. A cultural blindness results from such group judgements. These essays provide a necessary shift in perspective, revealing subliminal attitudes and behavior in contemporary fine arts practice.

This proposed work of conceptual art is unrealisable without the participation of the very people addressed in these essays. In the moment of its exhibition, the work simultaneously evokes a cultural dialogue not only within the art world but also in personal and public spheres. Thus the conceptual aspect of this project occurs in the moment of its realisation or rejection.
